September 30th is a key sales closing date for many fall-seeded crops, including winter wheat, and it is also the annual sign-up deadline for margin protection on certain spring-seeded crops such as corn, soybeans, and spring wheat, where applicable.

By the sales closing date, producers may need to apply for coverage, make changes to existing coverage, review policy options, and confirm that their protection still aligns with their plans for the coming crop year.

Missing the applicable sales closing date can mean missing the opportunity to put the desired coverage in place for that crop year. That is especially important for producers who want to revisit coverage levels, look at risk-management options, or add tools like margin protection before the window closes.

This is a good time to review your crops, acreage plans, and current coverage choices, and to think through whether your operation has changed since last season.

If you need any assistance or want to talk through your options ahead of the September 30th deadline, don’t hesitate to give our team a call.

Agricultural operations face a growing range of risks that can significantly impact production, revenue, and long-term business stability. These risks can include, but are not limited to:

🌱 Severe weather - Unexpected droughts, heavy rains, and unseasonal spikes or drops in temperature can threaten an entire season's output and put real financial pressure on your operation.

🌱 Biological threats - Invasive pests and new crop diseases can spread rapidly and cause significant losses that ripple through every aspect of your agricultural business.

🌱 Market price volatility - Even a strong harvest can fall short if commodity prices drop at the wrong time. Revenue protection coverage can help ensure your income is protected.

🌱 Equipment breakdown - A machinery failure during planting or harvest season can delay your entire operation and directly impact the yields your policy is designed to protect.

🌱 Contamination and pollution - Chemical drift, fertilizer spills, and water contamination can damage crops and expose your operation to coverage gaps you may not know exist.

While being aware of common risks is one piece of the puzzle, the other piece is having the right crop insurance coverage.

Do not wait for a loss to find out where your coverage falls short. Give our team a call today, and we can walk through your coverage step by step to identify potential gaps.

If you’ve ever loaned your car to a friend or borrowed someone else’s vehicle, you may have wondered what happens if an accident occurs. Would the vehicle owner’s insurance apply — or would the driver’s policy take over?

In most situations, auto insurance follows the vehicle first, not the driver. That means the car's policy is usually the primary source of coverage in the event of an accident. However, that’s not always the case. Swipe for some key details about when the vehicle owner’s policy kicks in and when the driver’s policy is used.

If you’re ever unsure how your coverage applies, want to double-check your policy, or layer on additional auto coverages, we’re always happy to take a look with you. Feel free to give our team a call. We are here to be a resource for you.
