We had a great time sponsoring the annual Davison School’s end of year lunch and awards ceremony! The end of the year energy is always on full display. We love it.

A big congratulations to Mr. Jeff Nagy! Jeff was one of 10 total winners in the Meemic Insurance $10,000 All-Star Teachers Sweepstakes - winning $500 for his classroom and $500 for Linden High School! We were very happy to be able to present him the check.

Jeff wears many hats for Linden and his students but one incredible thing we’d like to highlight is his work and creation of Stats Day - partnering with the Tigers and Detroit sports. As an AP Statistics teacher he turned classroom work into something extremely hands on and practical.

Jeff, his Linden students, and over 1,000 other students from 8 schools all participated in Stats Day 2026. The group of them got to sit in at Comerica Park and Little Caesars Arena to a panel of Detroit Tigers staff and others sharing how data and analytics drive decisions across the baseball and sports industry.

Thank you for the dedication and hard work in everything, Jeff! You are appreciated!

We had three winners of the Meemic Foundation’s Teacher Appreciation Kit grant which included a “I’m a Proud Michigan Educator” lunch box, tumbler, and a Dr Suess’s “Oh What I’ve Learned Thanks to my Teachers” book!

Our first stop was to Clio High School to see principal Scott Williams and soon to be principal, Rachel Traver! Scott is retiring this year and Rachel will be the full time principal going forward. Congratulations to both!

Shannon Edwards of Kreeger Elementary in Fowlerville and Jayna Vineyard of Bentley High School were our next two winners and it was great seeing them both again. Have an incredible summer break! 😎

Congratulations to Thomson Elementary Paraprofessional Mrs. Beckie Jacobs, who has been named as the June 2026 recipient of the Kids First award.

Each month - October through June - administrators nominate a DCS employee or contracted staff member who best exemplifies what it means to be “Kids First.” Winners receive a $100 Visa gift card thanks to Mark Owen, owner of MEEMIC insurance, and a certificate. The winner is chosen at random.

Mrs. Jacobs was nominated by the Thomson Elementary Principal Mr. Andrew Criswell.

Beckie models what it means to put "Kids First" by meeting our students exactly where they are, giving them the patience they need to succeed, and bringing a joyful, positive energy to our halls. She is a true anchor for our team and so incredibly deserving of this recognition.

We had another awesome event put on by Flushing Schools, Move 4 Mission, and our friends from Sovita Credit Union! Thank you for having us!

The entire Flushing school district came through for breakfast, raffles, great conversations, and celebrating all of their rockstar teachers and staff. We had a lot of fun.

Our offices are closed today in honor of Memorial Day.

We are forever grateful for the sacrifices and bravery of our fallen brothers and sisters. We will never forget those who sacrificed everything for us and our incredible country.

We had the pleasure of co-sponsoring (with our friends from Sovita) Teacher Appreciation week lunches for Linden Community Schools!

Pita Way put on an awesome spread of food for each Linden school starting last Thursday at the High School. Friday was the Middle School. Monday and Tuesday were Central and Linden Elementary. We finished up with Hyatt Elementary and the Early Childhood Center on Tuesday! Gift card raffles, great food, and rock star Linden teachers and staff. We had a lot of fun.

A huge thank you to Jeff Nagy who coordinated all of this. It wouldn’t have been possible without him. We actually have some further news to share about Jeff in a teacher spotlight, as well! He’s been doing some incredible and innovative projects for Linden and his students. Stay tuned!

Our next and last $500 Meemic Foundation Teacher Appreciation grant went to Elisha Rushton and principal Anne Bennett of Pinehurst Elementary in Mt Morris!

It was a great time seeing you both and all of the awesome grant winners and staff over the past couple of weeks. We appreciate you!
