This past Tuesday at the Hurt Hub, we discussed Medicare.

Turning 65 comes with many new decisions, and Medicare is an important one to plan for.

Understanding when to enroll, what coverage options are available, and how healthcare costs fit into your overall financial plan can help you make more informed decisions.

You don't have to figure it all out at once.

The right time to start asking questions is before you need to make a decision.

If you're approaching Medicare eligibility and want to better understand your options, let's start the conversation.

I run into this all the time.

Someone tells me they have a life insurance policy. I ask what kind it is, what it does, how itโ€™s performing. And they pause and say something like, โ€œWellโ€ฆ it pays my family when I die.โ€

Thatโ€™s usually where it ends.

Hereโ€™s what gets me: a lot of these folks have been paying premiums for ten, fifteen, twenty years. Thatโ€™s real money, year after year, on something theyโ€™ve never had explained to them. Not because they werenโ€™t paying attention โ€” but because nobody ever sat down and walked them through it.

Your policy might be doing exactly what you need. It might have cash value you didnโ€™t know was there. Or, it might be costing more than it should for what youโ€™re getting. Or, it might be a great policy that simply no longer matches the life you have now.

The only way to know is to look.

So Iโ€™ll look โ€” free.

A quick, simple policy review. No cost. No obligation. Nothing to buy. And you donโ€™t even have to meet with me in person if youโ€™d rather not โ€” plenty of people prefer to do this over the phone or a quick video call, and thatโ€™s perfectly fine.

Youโ€™ll walk away actually understanding what you own. Whatever you decide to do with that is entirely up to you.
If youโ€™ve been paying for something for years, you deserve to know what it is.

As summer begins to wind down and Back-To-School is quickly approaching, many of us start settling back into routines.

August is a great time to pause and check in on your financial goals before the year gets away from you.

Whether that means reviewing your retirement plan, revisiting your business finances, or simply making sure your strategy still aligns with your goals, small adjustments now can make a meaningful difference later.

Financial planning isn't about waiting until January.

Sometimes the best time to reset is right now.

If you're ready to review your financial plan, schedule a conversation through the link on our website.

As a business owner, keeping extra cash on hand is often necessary for payroll, taxes, growth opportunities, and unexpected expenses.

But here's a question worth asking:

Is your cash working as hard as your business?

While accessibility is important, it doesn't always mean your excess cash has to sit idle.

One strategy some business owners are exploring is Treasury Yield Programs, which may provide an opportunity to earn interest on excess cash while maintaining liquidity, depending on your goals and needs.

Every business is different, which is why it's important to evaluate your cash management strategy based on your unique financial situation.

If you're curious whether this approach could make sense for your business, let's start the conversation.https://www.bookmanbrightretirement.com/book

Teaching Tuesdays continues next month at The Hurt Hub.

These sessions are designed to create a more relaxed, approachable environment for conversations around financial planning, retirement, taxes, and major life decisions.

Rather than large seminars, the goal is to keep the discussions smaller and more conversational, with time for questions and discussion.

Topics vary each week, and space remains limited to help maintain a more personal and interactive setting.

Budgeting is often viewed as restricting spending.
In reality, a budget is simply a tool that helps create awareness and intentionality around financial decisions.

Three budgeting principles that can help:
โ€ข Track where your money is going before making adjustments.
โ€ข Plan ahead for irregular expenses such as travel, holidays, and annual bills.
โ€ข Review your budget periodically, as financial priorities often change over time.

A budget does not need to be complicated to be effective. Small adjustments and consistent awareness can help support long-term financial goals.
