💰 The standard employee deferral limit is now $24,500, a $1,000 increase over 2025.
If you're 50 or older, the catch-up contribution bumps to $8,000, bringing your total ceiling to $32,500.

The SECURE 2.0 "super catch-up" for ages 60 through 63 stays at $11,250 on top of the base, putting that group at $35,750.

The combined employer-plus-employee limit also rose to $72,000 for those under 50, $80,000 for 50+, and $83,250 for the 60-63 window.

One change that will catch some people off guard: starting in 2026, if you earned over $150,000 last year, your catch-up contributions must go into Roth. No choice.

That means higher earners lose the upfront tax break on those extra dollars but gain tax-free growth on a larger Roth balance.

For most people, the move is the same as always. Contribute enough to get your full employer match, then work toward the max.
