Haven't talked about wage-push inflation in a long while.
Super-core inflation(CPI-food, shelter and energy) showing MoM increases.
This category is more responsive to income fluctuations and not supply/demand as other categories.

As always for clarity, Since February of 2020, Inflation is up 25.76%.
If all you hear is "inflation is down" that means the pace of increase is slowing.
We have not had widespread deflation.
And we wont until Congress stops spending.

While not as aggressive as in the past, Energy at -0.1% is helping.
And trending lower.

CPI day.
All items came in at 2.4% down from 2.7% in December.
Looks like we are back to energy holding it in check.

Native born unemployment rate YoY spikes from 4.3 to 4.7%.
Unemployed increased +500,000.

Here are the 12 month numbers.
4 Categories are positive.
Education and healthcare(heavily subsidized) increased 773,000 jobs.
The private sector is hemorrhaging jobs.
There will be lots of press on the 130k from January(which will be revised).
But Trumps 1st year for the economy and jobs is bad.

Non-Farm Payrolls rose 130,000 in January.
Annual benchmarking removes 898,000 from last years already low numbers.
With these type of revisions, not to mention the monthly revisions that occur, its increasingly harder to believe what posts.

The job report out today shows 147,000 jobs created.
However, 73,000 of these jobs were direct gov't jobs. Of the remaining 74,000, 80% were in gov't subsidized categories.
Which leaves the private sector creating only 15,400.
This is not a good report.

GDP is one of the gauges the government uses to determine the health of our economy.
Q3-2024 was 3.1%
Q4-2024 was 2.3%
Q1-2025? Numbers wont be out until Mid April.
But the Atlanta FED says it predicts -2.8%
The textbook definition of a recession is 2 consecutive quarters of negative GDP.

Our current debt is over $36Trillion. It was 1/2 of that 10 Years ago.
Of this amount, $12 Trillion came under Biden.
Trump did damage too.
His picks for Treasury and the Federal Reserve chair are extremely important.
He chose disruptors for other positions(ie., RFK Jr, Tulsi Gabbard, etc.)
Bessent is not a disruptor. One way to make good, is to choose Judy Shelton for Fed Chair.
