"NO OTHER INSURANCE COMPANY HAS DONE THIS!"
I met this week with our Farm Training Specialist John Nagle at Wyeth Farms, Inc, in North Salem to present our Farm Emergency/Safety Plan.
Earlier this month, we inspected the farm and John put the Plan together.
Meeting inside Dick Wyeth's home, we were also joined by his son Rich and North Salem Fire Chief Kevin Basham. The Wyeths and Chief Basham received binders, which contain the emergency contact info and an aerial view of the farm. Each structure is identified along with the contents of the buildings so the fire department will be better prepared to fight a fire.
Bringing two other binders, we gave one binder to the Chief, which he will keep in his vehicle, and another will be taken back to the station. Gratefully, the Chief said he will be using this in training meetings with his firefighters at the department. Excitedly, he expressed to us that we were the first insurance company to reach out to him and he was very appreciative that it was done by John instead of the department having to put it together. He also said John did an exceptional job of putting the plan together and it was very much the same that the fire department does for businesses etc.. Thank you John!
Placing the Plan inside a red tube, we gave this to the Wyeths which will be placed outside in a strategic location on the farm so if one of the department’s volunteers gets there first they can pull the information out.
It was an absolute awesome meeting, and to have the Fire Chief meet with us as well as the Wyeths was amazing. Giving us perspective and wisdom, we very much appreciated the Chief's presence. Dick Wyeth also gave us the idea to purchase fire extinguishers and to have them recharged for the farmers, so stay tuned for that! 😉
