“What does LTV mean?” It stands for Loan To Value (of the home). Meaning what percent of the home’s appraised value (or sales price whichever is less) you are borrowing. For example, if the home is appraised at $275,000 and you are getting a $220,000 loan, your LTV would be 80%.

Typically, the higher the LTV, the more risk the mortgage lender is taking because the borrower has less of a “stake” in the property. And in some cases, a lower LTV can allow a lender to offer you a better rate!
