Rant of importance due to Danbury Police Station violating defendant's rights: As many of you know I have a lawsuit pending against the Danbury Police Station, the City of Danbury, and various officers for violating my civil rights and trying to shut down my business. The fight can be a draining one at times, but with God on my side I have the strength and the will to get through it, and win it. Im not one to put my business out there as I choose to fight quietly and let my results speak for themselves; unfortunately today their malicious intent to put me out of business has reached an ultimate high when this gentleman's rights were blatantly violated by the Danbury Police Department, and I can not remain silent about this situation as it may have happened to others and will continue to happen if we do not hold these officers accountable to the Law and our Rights in the United States. So today: I am in the Danbury Police Station doing a bond for a gentleman of Brazilian decent with his friend who had traveled very far to help him out very early this morning. After we had completed all the paperwork, I had posted the bond, and handed it in to the window. I assured the friend that hopefully he will be up soon as we have no control over when they will bring him upstairs. About 15 minutes after I handed in the paperwork the civilian behind the glass asks to speak to the friend and waved him over. She held a paper up to the window and said the officer wants you to call him now. I recognize the number as the booking number downstairs. At this time I'm suspicious about what is occurring as when does a booking officer need to speak to a cosigner? The friend calls down and I can hear the conversation and the officer telling him not to post the bond that the money was too high and to let his friend go to court. The friend is confused and says everything is done and he is waiting for the defendant to come upstairs. The officer put the defendant on the phone, but when they begin speaking it cuts off. He calls back and puts me on the phone and I hear officer Mahr in booking and proceed to ask him what is the hold up, and who was the officer the friend was talking to. He tells me the shift commander is coming upstairs to talk to us, and hangs up. The friend looks at me and says, "I think someone is trying to mess with your business, and take money from you." I look at him and say that's funny because its exactly what it sounds like to me too. We are both puzzled. Then the shift commander, Officer Coe, comes out and says the defendant doesnt want to be bonded out, and that he didnt understand the process and wants to be taken to court. I'm completely skeptical now because what defendant does not want to get out in these situations? I explained that his friend is trying to call him to see what is going on and they are not answering in booking. This makes no sense and maybe there is a language barrier and he doesnt understand, please tell them to answer the phone so we can speak to the defendant. He said ok, I will do that, but know we are short on time and hes leaving to court at 9:30. I said that's understandable but we need to speak to the defendant to see what he wants to do and hear it from him ourselves. He leaves. We both look at each other and say this makes absolutely no sense, why would he be called to come down here to get him out of he didnt want to get out? I explained I dont think that is the truth. At this point he comes back with officer Hilderbrand (spelling maybe off), and says this is the officer who spoke to the defendant downstairs who told him he didnt want to get out. Hilderbrand is speaking to the friend in broken Spanish (which I understand very well) and switched to English saying the defendant didnt want to get out and wanted to be brought to court. I point out that there is obviously a language barrier being broken because the defendant is Brazlian not Spanish, and we want to talk to the defendant please and at this time i wanted them to stop with the intentional delays. When the defendant finally is allowed to call, he says in Portuguese that he wants to get out now. We tell him to please tell the officers that you want to be released now and he said ok. I turn the paperwork back in and notice 15min pass and it never goes downstairs even though the civilian said she called the shift commander that the paperwork has been handed in again. At 9:31 officer Coe comes out and says the defendant did not want to sign and he was transported out to court and he was going with the defendant's right not to sign; which clearly contradicted what the defendant told us over the phone. The defendant was not released and ended up being taken to court 😔 I knew his rights were violated so badly this morning. From now on I will be voicing my issues and interferences with the Danbury Police Department and my business on Facebook so that if there are other people who are having these issues, we need to bring this to the forefront. We all matter and cannot allow the Danbury Police Department to continue to violate our rights. There are many more of us out there and I will continue to fight! More voices are loud than one!
