Sugar High… Followed by the Inevitable Sugar Crash!
The Cheney Insurance staff was VERY excited today when a delicious array of cupcakes was dropped off in the office! We may have gotten a little too excited… and by “a little,” we mean there may have been some serious cupcake consumption happening.
The cupcakes were AMAZING. The afternoon productivity levels? Well… let’s just say there was a brief period of “Who needs coffee when you have frosting?” followed by the inevitable “I need a nap!” sugar crash.
But it was absolutely worth it!
Cheney is proud to be a sponsor of the 3rd Annual Sweet Shots for Diabetes and to support an event that raises awareness and funds for such an important cause.
A big thank-you for the cupcakes—and for giving the Cheney team a very sweet afternoon!

Celebrating 10 Years of Jasmyn Rose at Cheney Insurance! 🎉

This week, we’re celebrating a very special milestone — 10 years of Jasmyn Rose with Cheney Insurance! 💙

Over the past decade, Jasmyn has grown tremendously, taking on leadership as our Vice President of Commercial Lines while also becoming the go-to person for all things IT throughout Cheney Financial Group.

But what makes Jasmyn such an incredible asset to our team goes far beyond her titles and accomplishments. She is a true leader who is always willing to help others learn, grow and succeed. Her dedication to continuous education and staying current in the insurance industry is something we admire greatly.

Jasmyn was named the 2025 Young Insurance Professional of the Year and holds her CPIA, ACSR and SBCS designations. She is also an active member of the Young Agents of Maine, continuing to invest in both her own professional growth and the future of our industry.

Most importantly, Jasmyn brings a genuine commitment to Cheney Insurance, our clients and our insurance company partners' every single day. She truly has a passion for insurance!

Cheney Financial Group was pleased to attend To the Nines, the annual fundraiser hosted by Veggies To Table at Bigelow Laboratory in East Boothbay, Maine. Held this past Sunday evening, the event certainly did not disappoint!

Guests filled the hallways in true gala style, making the evening feel extra special. From the silent auction to the spirited back-and-forth bidding on incredible items—including retreats from Florida, to France, handmade crafts, wine tours, concert tickets and so much more—we were reminded once again of the incredible generosity of our community.

Attendees were more than generous to support the important work of Veggies To Table, whose mission is to help ensure that no one goes without food—and, importantly, access to healthy, fresh food.

It was truly an inspiring evening and a wonderful reminder of how fortunate we are to live in a community where people come together to support one another and make a meaningful difference.

A huge thank you for hosting such a wonderful event and to everyone who contributed, donated, bid, volunteered, and helped make this amazing evening possible. We were honored to be part of it! 💚🥕🌱

Yesterday was a wonderful day spent with our friends at the Central Lincoln County YMCA!

Cheney Financial Group was honored to present a check to sponsor one week of summer camp for a local child, helping ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and create lasting memories.

We also had the pleasure of touring the future home of Discovery Village, the YMCA's innovative nature-based childcare initiative. This exciting project will feature beautiful new yurts and provide a welcoming environment where our community's youngest learners can explore, discover, and thrive while fostering a lifelong love of learning and the outdoors.

Projects like Discovery Village are more than just new buildings—they are investments in the future of our families, our children, and our community. We are grateful to support organizations like the Central Lincoln County YMCA that continue to make Lincoln County such a special place to live, work, and raise a family.

Thank you for the tour and for all you do for our community. We can't wait to see Discovery Village come to life!

Another great Business After Hours is in the books!

Cheney Financial Group, Cheney Insurance, Newcastle Realty, and Newcastle Vacation Rentals had a wonderful time attending the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours at the Southport General Store.

It was a fantastic evening connecting with fellow businesses from across the Boothbay Harbor Region and seeing firsthand all that the Southport General Store has to offer. The shelves were fully stocked with an impressive selection of food, beverages, and local favorites for both year-round residents and summer visitors alike.

While I somehow forgot to snap photos of the neighboring gift shop, it was filled wall-to-wall with beautiful handmade creations from incredibly talented local artists and craftspeople. It is definitely worth stopping in to explore!

One of the highlights of the evening was meeting the J-1 students working at the store. It was so enjoyable learning about where they call home and hearing about their experiences spending the summer here in Maine.

Thank you to the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce for another outstanding networking event and to the Southport General Store for your warm hospitality. We always enjoy the opportunity to connect with our local business community.

We at Cheney Insurance are incredibly grateful to hear that, overall, everyone is safe following the fire at Chasse Marine in Damariscotta.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to the dedicated firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, and every first responder from across Lincoln County and the surrounding communities who answered the call. Your courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to protecting our neighbors will never go unnoticed.

Last evening, members of the Cheney Financial Group team had the pleasure of attending the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours at the Frances Perkins Center.

Walking through the Center was more than just touring a historic home—it was an opportunity to truly feel the history and legacy of an extraordinary woman whose work continues to impact our lives today. Frances Perkins' commitment to improving workplace safety and workers' rights was forever shaped by the tragic Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire in New York City on March 25, 1911. That devastating event inspired her lifelong mission to advocate for safer working conditions and meaningful labor reform.

It was incredible to discover that such an important piece of American history is right here in our own backyard. What was once a family farm, became the summer home of a pioneering leader whose courage, compassion, and determination helped shape the future for workers across our nation and opened doors for generations of women in leadership.

The Frances Perkins Center is filled with stories that deserve to be remembered and shared. If you haven't had the opportunity to visit, we encourage you to spend a couple of hours exploring this remarkable landmark. You'll leave with a greater appreciation for the people whose vision and perseverance helped create many of the workplace protections we often take for granted today.
