Today we gathered for an office cookout to celebrate the memories and say goodbye to our old office. ❤️

Thank you for the memories, 3601 Cedar Springs! So many great moments, conversations, and milestones happened within those walls.

As we celebrate 150 years of Dexter & Company, it’s exciting to reflect on where we have been while looking ahead to where we are going next. Here’s to new beginnings and the next chapter!

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost, honor the heroes who served, and reflect on the strength and resilience that followed.

This month, we are shining the spotlight on Doug Pickering, RRP! Doug brings a strong emphasis on building lasting relationships and creating a great client experience. His thoughtful, relationship-first approach is a great example of how meaningful connections and exceptional service go hand in hand when working with clients. Learn more about Doug below!

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆?
Born and raised right here in Dallas, Texas. I am currently a resident of University Park.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀?
I love building long-standing relationships that extend beyond just insurance needs. Educating clients on what they need and why, while providing true "sleep-at-night" coverage, is incredibly fulfilling. Earning a client's trust and appreciation confirms I’m doing the right thing in my career—that intrinsic reward is priceless.

𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘆?
Coffee, always.

𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗯𝗯𝘆 𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸?
I love golf and the outdoors, but after work, you'll usually find me coaching youth football, soccer, or baseball for my kids. I wouldn't exactly call it "unwinding," but getting to spend time with my wife and kids while mixing in sports is a massive bonus.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂?
I attended Culver Military Academy, where I served as the Commander of the Cavalry, and even rode in the 1997 Presidential Inaugural Parade.

𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗙𝗪?
It's hard to pick just one, but my top three are Sueño in Snider Plaza, Norman's, and Al Biernat's.

𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗩 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄?
Landman.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀?
Never try to sell a product to someone if you aren't 100% knowledgeable about it yourself.

Dexter is lucky to have you, Doug!

🐾Dog of the Month: Finley🐾

Finley (Finbot/Finwee/Fun Police) is the four-legged best friend to our Data Analyst, Madeleine.

Finley is happiest when he is playing fetch outside but also loves to look out the window and bark at anything that goes by. Ahhh the good life.

Our not-so-silent protector will sit so pretty for bully sticks and peanut butter/yogurt lick mats, but as soon as they are gone it’s back to business, and that business is ball.

Ball is life for Finley and he would chase after a ball until he passed out if he had his way.

At 9 years old he has just started settling down a little bit and has gotten more snuggly with age. He loves to sleep between our feet at night but tries to steal our pillows in the morning. He has perfected the art of giving hugs and getting his way.

Congratulations, Finley!

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆?
I was born and raised in Dallas and went to high school in Richardson at JJ Pearce. We now live in Lake Highlands with our two children, Cameron (4) and Kennedy (9 months).

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿?
I have worked at Dexter in sales for 10 years, celebrating that anniversary this past March, it has certainly flown by.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀?
I love connecting with our clients and providing strategic plans tailored to their needs whether that is for their personal insurance, their business or life insurance. I also love to connect clients with other relationships I have in the community like with mortgage brokers, realtors, bankers, etc. to continue to help them outside of just an insurance policy.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂?
I played softball in college at Angelo State University before transferring and graduating from the University of Texas in Austin.

𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗙𝗪?
I have so many, it hard to choose! I love il Bracco, Oishii, and E Bar.

𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗩 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄?
We are watching Cape Fear on AppleTV and I keep up with an embarrassing amount of shows on Bravo.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁?
Listen, be responsive and be available. People can sense when you are being authentic and earnest in your sales approach. Being able to truly show you care about protecting their assets and understanding their goals goes a long way in this business. This is a relationship driven business and after 10 years, referrals from my clients who trust me to take care of the people they care about is the largest compliment I can receive.

Dexter is lucky to have you, Rachael!
