Client relations is one of those roles people underestimate until they experience it done well. It's not just answering the phone or scheduling a meeting. It's remembering the small things. Knowing when someone needs a little more explanation and when they just need the process to feel easy.

Keley Williams has spent the last two years doing exactly that for ELS Vision Wealth Management clients.

She's often the first person a client talks to, and the way that first conversation goes can set the tone for the entire relationship. Keley treats that responsibility seriously, and it shows in how our clients talk about their experience with the firm.

Two years in, and the impact is clear. Happy Anniversary, Keley Williams! 🎉

Student loan rules changed on July 1, 2026, and the shift is bigger than a rate adjustment. Grad PLUS loans are gone for new borrowers, annual and lifetime borrowing caps replaced a more flexible structure, and repayment plans like SAVE and PAYE are being phased out in favor of two new options.

For a parent still contributing to a student's education, or a graduate student weighing options for the fall, these changes affect the math in ways that are easy to miss when planning around what used to be true. A borrowing limit that didn't exist last year changes how a family sequences tuition payments across four years. A repayment plan being phased out changes what a monthly budget looks like five years from now, not just this semester.

We broke down what's different this year and what it means depending on where you are in the process.

A business owner spends years thinking about growth. Revenue, hiring, the next contract, the next location. What gets less attention is what happens to all of it if that owner is suddenly out of the picture.

An operating plan answers how the business runs day to day. It doesn't answer who takes over the accounts if the owner has a health event, what happens to key relationships if there's no successor named, or how the business gets valued and transferred if the goal is eventually to sell.

For many first-generation business owners, the business is the largest asset they have. Protecting it means thinking through the exit as seriously as the growth.

Five terms in this carousel come up in almost every conversation we have with business owners who've crossed into a different income bracket, and it's rarely because someone brought them up first.

A buy-sell agreement sits unused until a partner passes away or wants out. By then, the terms of who does what should already be decided. Disability insurance gets skipped because life insurance feels like the obvious priority, until someone can't work for two years and finds out their income doesn't pause.

And treating the business itself as the retirement plan is common enough that it's worth asking directly: is your wealth sitting anywhere outside the company?

Success may get you into the room. Character determines whether I want to stay.

Over the last few months, I've been in rooms with some incredibly successful people.

Some of those conversations inspired me. I walked away grateful, encouraged, and genuinely impressed by what colleagues and associates are building.

Others taught me a different lesson.

I've realized I would rather share a room with good, successful people I respect, people who respect me and the values I stand for, than spend my time chasing access to people who don't.

At this stage of my life, I'm learning to value character over clout, mutual respect over access, and real relationships over impressive rooms.

Not every room you can get into is a room you need to stay in.

I'm curious how others think about this. Has there ever been a room, a deal, or an opportunity you walked away from because it didn't align with who you are? What made you decide it wasn't worth staying for?

Today we're celebrating Keley Williams, the person our clients meet with a smile and leave a conversation feeling truly heard. Client relations is not just a title. It is a daily commitment to making people feel valued, and Keley brings that energy every single day.

From the first phone call to the follow-up email, she makes sure no one on our client list ever feels like just a name in a system. That kind of care is rare, and we do not take it for granted.

Wishing you a birthday as warm and thoughtful as the way you treat every person who walks through our door. Here is to another year of you making ELS Vision Wealth Management feel like home for the people we serve.

Happy birthday, Keley. We are grateful for you. 🎉

Most financial advice starts with numbers. Budgets, percentages, target savings rates. What it skips is the fact that most people's relationship with money was decided long before they earned their first paycheck.

A conversation about money that happened at a kitchen table twenty years ago can still be running in the background of a decision made today. Someone who grew up watching money be a source of tension might avoid checking their accounts altogether. Someone who was told they'd never be good with numbers might hand off every financial decision without asking a single question.
None of that shows up on a balance sheet, but it shapes every choice that leads to one.

Understanding the story behind the numbers is part of the work we do in financial planning. It's not just projections and allocations; it's figuring out why certain decisions feel harder than they should.
