October 1 may have put a group health insurance renewal into effect. That doesn’t mean the work ends there.

Some terms are generally set for the plan year. But there is still value in reviewing administration, helping employees understand their benefits, addressing issues as they arise, and preparing for the next renewal conversation.

Our latest article explains what is typically locked in—and what employers can still evaluate.

A strong benefits package is not only about how many options it includes. It is also about how those benefits work together when employees need them.

This National Disability Employment Awareness Month, reviewing short-term and long-term disability alongside leave and other ancillary benefits can help employers spot gaps and build a more connected program.

Read the full article to see where disability coverage fits into the bigger benefits picture—and what employers may want to review this NDEAM.

Quick compliance check for business owners đź“‹

If your company health plan includes prescription drug coverage, there's a notice due before October 15: the Medicare Part D creditable coverage notice.

It tells the Medicare-eligible people on your plan (employees, their spouses and dependents, COBRA participants and retirees) whether your drug coverage is "creditable." That matters to them: going 63 days or longer without creditable coverage after their initial Medicare enrollment period can mean a late enrollment penalty.

Carriers and TPAs often help prepare it, but it's your plan's notice. A two-minute email to confirm it went out is worth it this week.

Here's how our team supports employers on notices and reporting: https://www.victorinsuresyou.com/compliance/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=grok_20261012_part-d-notice

World Mental Health Day is a useful reminder to make sure employees know what support may already be available through their benefits.

If a plan includes an Employee Assistance Program, behavioral health coverage or telehealth options, employees still need to know what is covered, how to access it and what it may cost to use.

Open enrollment is a natural time to make those resources easier to understand and easier to find.

Short-term and long-term disability coverage may serve different timeframes, but the transition between them matters.

Waiting periods, benefit levels, plan definitions, and leave policies can all shape how coverage works in practice. Reviewing STD and LTD together can help turn two separate policies into a clearer, more coordinated strategy.

This NDEAM (National Disability Employment Awareness Month), it is worth looking at the handoff—not just the individual policies. Explore the article for key questions to consider across the STD-to-LTD transition.

Your benefits package represents a major investment in your people. But when employees do not fully understand what they have, much of that value can go unseen.

Fewer than half of employees say they understand the costs of their benefits well, while 79% of employers believe their workforce does. That gap can show up as repeat HR questions, rushed plan choices and benefits employees may overlook — including accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity and mental health support.

Our latest article breaks down where benefits confusion creates hidden costs and how clearer education can help before open enrollment.

A strong group benefits renewal starts long before the final proposal arrives.

Starting roughly 150 days before the renewal date gives HR and leadership time to review plan performance, understand what’s driving costs, explore credible alternatives, and negotiate from a stronger position.

The renewal date should be the finish line—not the starting line.

Open enrollment is closer than most HR teams realize, and this year's ACA changes are bigger than usual. The affordability threshold jumped to 9.96%, out-of-pocket maximums went up, and both need to show up correctly in your enrollment materials before employees start choosing coverage.

We broke down exactly what to check before your window opens: affordability math, plan documents, required notices, employee communication, and whether your tech can carry the load.
