Are considering becoming a driver for a ride-share company? If so, I highly recommend your contacting your auto insurance agent, Find out if your insurance company offers a ridehare endorsement. Adding this endorsement can prevent you from losing everything in a lawsuit. Let me explain....The Texas Personal Auto Policy specifically excludes coverage when transporting passengers for a fee. Furthermore, this exclusion kicks in the moment you activate your rideshare app. From app activation to rider pick-up, you have no insurance coverage.
The Rideshare Endorsement closes this coverage gap. Once you pick up your rider, the rideshare company's insurance kicks in and covers you.
Then it turns off when you drop off your rider. Then your Rideshare Endorsement kicks back in, so you're never without coverage.
