Bankruptcy is not just “I filed and everything disappeared.”
It can stay on your credit report for years, and lenders may look at what type you filed, when it was filed, whether it was discharged, what accounts were included, and what your credit profile looks like now.
That’s why somebody can say:
“But my bankruptcy is over.”
…and still have trouble getting approved.
The lender is looking at the full story.
Did you rebuild?
Are your current accounts being managed well?
Is your utilization high?
Have you opened too much new credit?
Are there still reporting errors tied to the bankruptcy?
Your score does not tell the whole story.
Income doesn’t equal approval. Structure beats vibes.
Bankruptcy does not mean you can never qualify again. It means your profile needs to make sense on paper before you start applying.
