Hunger isn't always visible. For many families across East Africa, it looks like uncertainty about tomorrow's meal, limited opportunities, and the constant pressure to survive.

Through Seed Effect Savings & Loan Groups, members access the conservation agriculture curriculum from Equipping Farmers International and the Plan for a Better Business curriculum from The Chalmers Center. With improved agricultural methods and growing small businesses, members are steadying their incomes, strengthening food security, and providing for their families with dignity.

This World Hunger Day, we're reminded that flourishing happens when people are equipped to know Jesus, grow spiritually, and provide for their families with dignity: not just to survive, but to thrive.

Meet Betty. 🌱
She fled South Sudan with almost nothing. Today, she runs a tailoring business in Yumbe, has acquired three sewing machines and six chickens, and is training other young women to support their own families.

In her words:
"After I joined the Seed Effect group, I learned many valuable lessons. One of the most important was how to manage my money."
"The business brought many benefits. I can now help myself, take care of my family, and pay for my children's school fees."
"I train these girls by sharing the knowledge I have, so that in the future, they too can support their families and care for their children."

Our 2025 Annual Impact Report is now live.

When we look back on last year, one phrase keeps coming to mind: a strong foundation.

After several years of rapid expansion, 2025 became a pivotal year to strengthen the foundation beneath our work. We expanded our monitoring and evaluation capacity, added key staff roles, upgraded our financial and data systems, and invested deeply in leadership development across our teams in Uganda, South Sudan, and the U.S.

These are the kinds of investments that don't always make for dramatic headlines. They are the ones that ensure families like Betty Juan's can move from survival, to stability, to multiplication.

Since we started (as of Dec. 31, 2025):
• 123,630 Members served
• $14.6 million saved by our Members
• $10.2 million loaned within their Savings & Loan Groups
• 30% average return on savings
• 8 districts across Northern Uganda and South Sudan

Seed Effect Executive Director, Missy Williams, shared: "We are not trying to be the biggest organization. Rather, we hope to be faithful by pioneering dignifying poverty alleviation in the hardest places, led by the very communities we serve."
