Supporting Special Needs Families – A Night of Impact

Last night, Tina Hansen and I had the incredible opportunity to speak with families at the Weatherford ISD Ninth Grade Center about the resources and assistance available for special needs families and their children. It was an amazing event filled with meaningful conversations, valuable insights, and, most importantly, families looking to secure a brighter future for their loved ones.

We were also joined by our estate attorney partner, Jim Trimble of Trimble Law Office, who provided invaluable guidance on legal planning for families with special needs. Having Jim with us reinforced our mission—to connect families with the right resources, whether it's financial planning, estate planning, or other critical support.

A HUGE thank you to Megan Duncan and Leslie Ackmann at Weatherford ISD Special Programs, whose efforts helped make this event such a success. Their dedication to supporting families in the community is truly inspiring, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate.

🎳⚾ Bowling for a Cause: Supporting Keeper of The Game ⚾🎳

Last night, our New York Life team had the privilege of volunteering at Keeper of the Game’s fourth annual RP11 Strikes and Scholarships event at Main Event in Frisco, Texas. This incredible evening was more than just a fundraiser—it was a celebration of community, inclusion, and servant leadership.

From helping facilitate activities to supporting the event’s operations, our team was honored to play a small part in making the night a success. It was inspiring to see families, athletes, and supporters come together to benefit the Ron Patterson Scholarship Fund, which provides opportunities for special needs students at St. Timothy Christian Academy and supports special needs programming.

The event included bowling, video games, laser tag, raffles, and an exciting silent auction—all aimed at creating a memorable experience for everyone involved while raising crucial funds. Former MLB star Elvis Andrus was also honored as the Keeper of the Game Award winner, and the presence of so many professional athletes made the night even more special.

Volunteering alongside such an impactful organization reminded us of the power of community and the importance of giving back. We left the event inspired by the mission of Keeper of the Game, which provides kids and young adults with special needs unique baseball experiences that foster growth, confidence, and a love for the game.

Thank you to James Vilade and the Keeper of the Game team for welcoming us with open arms. We’re excited to continue volunteering and supporting your mission however we can in the future! 💙⚾

Grateful for the Opportunity to Support Special Needs Families

Tuesday night, our team at New York Life (Me and Tina Hansen) and Steven Kaplan of Kaplan Wealth Strategies, LLC, alongside our estate attorney partner Jim Trimble of Trimble Law Office, had the privilege of meeting with families at the White Settlement ISD Admin building. We were invited by Kerry Cooper (Special Programs Director), Mandy Jenkins (Transition Coordinator), and Gabi Seals (Transition Representative/Inclusion Coach) to discuss financial assistance, trust documentation, and other vital resources available to help special needs families navigate their unique challenges.

Connecting with families and helping them understand the options available is something we truly enjoy. Our goal is to continue building relationships with school districts, organizations, and families to spread awareness and assist wherever we can.

We are excited to return in the Spring to support White Settlement ISD at their Special Olympics event, where we’ll be volunteering and offering more resources to families. If anyone has connections to other groups or families that would benefit from hearing about these services, I’d love to connect. Let’s work together to ensure every family has access to the resources they need.

🌟 Inspiring Day at Tulsa Fly Day with Challenge Air! 🌟

This past Saturday, my partner Tina Hansen, my wife Cheyenne Teters Henicke, and I had the incredible privilege of attending the Tulsa Fly Day, an event hosted by CHALLENGE AIR FOR KIDS AND FRIENDS INC.

Their mission? To empower physically, mentally challenged, and seriously ill children by giving them the gift of flight—and what a gift it is! ✈️💙

A huge thank you to April Culver, CEO of Challenge Air, for having us out and creating such an unforgettable experience. We were honored to be part of a day where 16 volunteer pilots took to the skies, giving 81 incredible kids the opportunity to soar 1,500 feet above, experiencing the world from a whole new perspective. The joy and inspiration in their eyes were truly remarkable!

As financial advisors dedicated to special needs families, we are excited to continue participating in future events and volunteering with Challenge Air to further support this amazing mission. Our goal is to help these families build financial plans that provide long-term security and peace of mind.
