An absolutely beautiful morning performing with the Frisco Community Band in honor of those who did not make it back.

I hope this Memorial Day we are able to reflect on the many liberties we enjoy as Americans because of the sacrifices of those before us.

Happy “May the 4th” to those who remember when the Force was… a stable WiFi connection.

Throwback to 2020, when I was teaching on Zoom dressed like Darth Vader, because apparently that’s what “adapting to unprecedented times” looked like. Somehow, we all leveled up overnight—new tech, new routines, and a newfound ability to present while chaos quietly unfolded off-camera.

It felt surreal then. It feels even more surreal now. But here’s the thing: we didn’t just get through it, we got better because of it. More resilient, more creative, maybe even a little more human.

How did the Force guide your work-from-home era?

What a fantastic local business! It was a lot of fun celebrating their 20th anniversary of being in business with a ribbon cutting!

I was honored to receive the leadership award from the Rowlett Area Chamber at their annual Gala last night. Serving this organization has been one of the highlights of my job the past few years - it is truly a wonderful group of people and some really fantastic local businesses.

Here's to 2026 and beyond!

I love meeting with this group of local business owners every Wednesday morning - each one brings unique perspective and a passion for their business

One thing that most small businesses don't adequately plan for is what the end looks like. According to the Conway Center for Family Business, only about 1/3 of family-owned businesses successfully transition to the second generation, roughly 12 percent survive into the third, and only about 3 percent reach the fourth generation. Less than half of the small businesses that are listed for sale actually sell.

The businesses that transition successfully when the owner is ready are the ones who have planned for it. Let's talk about what happens to YOUR business when you're ready to step back.

No matter your background, industry, or political views, voting is one of the simplest and most powerful ways we shape the future of our communities.

If you haven’t voted yet, make a plan. Encourage your team, your colleagues, and your network to do the same.

Engaged citizens build stronger communities.

This 3-day weekend, I skipped the service appointment and handled my own car maintenance instead. A few parts, some time in the garage, and a little effort saved me a solid chunk in labor costs.

There’s something satisfying about doing the and keeping the cash. Small wins like this add up.

Spending time with local business owners and community leaders is one of the most valuable parts of being a financial advisor. These conversations build trust, deepen understanding of real-world challenges, and create partnerships that benefit everyone involved.

When you invest in your local business community, you’re not just growing a network. You’re strengthening the ecosystem your clients live and work in every day.

Grateful for opportunities like this to connect, listen, and learn.
