This week, we’re celebrating the people who help bring the MAD Concepts vision to life.

Over the past several years, Kendra Shier has played an instrumental role in shaping our company culture and guiding the growth of both Jakes and Tacos & Avocados.

Since joining Jakes in 2017, Kendra has grown from Vice President of Operations to Operating Partner, and now serves as President of both Jakes and Tacos & Avocados. She has been a cornerstone of our operating team leading with heart, building strong teams, and creating a culture where hospitality starts with taking care of one another.

Whether she’s mentoring a leader, connecting with guests, refilling drinks, running food, or jumping in wherever she’s needed, Kendra continues to show what true leadership looks like.

As Tacos & Avocados continues to grow since opening its first location in November 2024, we’re also celebrating Guillermo “GMO” Tristan, our R&D Chef, and the creativity he brings to the concept. GMO has helped refine and elevate the brand’s culinary identity, bringing innovation, ingenuity, and bold flavors to the Mex-Tex experience we always envisioned.

More than a restaurant. A place to gather.
When we envisioned The Backyard, we weren't just designing an outdoor space, we were creating a place where communities could spend time together.
Since opening in Benbrook, we've watched families stay long after dinner, kids make the playground part of their weekly routine, friends gather for live music, fitness classes, and game days, and neighbors turn into regulars.
Great restaurants serve great food.
Great hospitality creates places people don't want to leave.
Benbrook has shown us that when you build for connection, the community responds.
We're excited to continue bringing Jakes, Tacos & Avocados, and The Backyard to more communities in the future.

🚧 Breaking Ground on Something Delicious! 🍔🌮

Today, we joined MAD Concepts Group to officially break ground on the new restaurant park featuring Jakes Burgers and Tacos & Avocados!

Located along the south end of Davis Boulevard, this development will breathe new life into a key commercial corridor in North Richland Hills. Anticipated to open a year from now, the project includes the construction of two full-service restaurants, connected by a spacious and inviting shared “backyard” with outdoor dining and dedicated play areas for families and children.

A big thank you to MAD Concepts Group for investing in North Richland Hills and creating a dynamic destination where great food meets community connection.💙
