FAQ:
Q- My neighbors tree fell on my (auto or home) Does their insurance pay or mine?
A- In an "Act of God" event such as the storm, who the tree belonged to is irrelevant. YOU would file a claim under YOUR insurance for damage to your property regardless of who the tree belonged to.
Q- An awning fell on my car in a parking lot during the storm, what do I do?
A- Take photos & document. You would still file a claim under your insurance for damages. This would be considered an “Act of God.”
POINTERS:
Fallen trees?
As a general rule unless the tree strikes your home, other structures, or auto the removal or clean up costs are your responsibility.
Roof Leaks?
Call a licensed/insured roofer to tarp or patch your roof until an adjuster can come out to assess the damage.
Damage to your home, other structures or cars?
Take photos, save receipts & document everything. Call your agent at BTIG & Leave the BIG messes for the claims adjuster to assess, but please try to avoid any further damage by tarping, covering etc… If you it is after hours/weekend please call your carrier if there’s significant damage to where the home isn’t livable!
