On Aug. 11–14, state insurance regulators gathered in Columbus, Ohio, for the 2026 , where they continued addressing the regulatory opportunities and challenges of the modern insurance marketplace.

As they advanced their work on issues including financial solvency oversight, market conduct, emerging technologies, health insurance affordability and availability, natural catastrophe risk, and more, NAIC Members engaged with state and federal officials, international insurance regulators, industry leaders, consumer representatives, and other interested parties.

IDHS received reports of people representing themselves as FEMA officials. While IDHS is in communication with FEMA about the storm response and recovery, FEMA representatives ARE NOT currently visiting homes in Indiana.

Please be careful, and do not share sensitive information if you are suspicious of a scammer.

When FEMA officials arrive, they will be clearly marked with vests and FEMA apparel. IDHS will share information when FEMA representatives begin visiting areas affected by the storms.

BREAKING NEWS!
I just heard from one of the attorneys suing State Farm.
He said: “Motion to Quash the Deposition of State Farm CEO was denied.”
That means the judge said no.
It means State Farm’s CEO can now be questioned under oath. The CEO must show up and answer the attorneys' questions.
Still waiting to hear on the “hot” documents and whether they will have to be made public. Those are the ones that supposedly have the company guidelines. The decision is playing out in Comanche County District Court.

Californians deserve transparency when their insurance and their money are at stake.

New reforms strengthen consumer protections by improving transparency in Administrative Hearing Bureau proceedings, establishing clearer standards for intervenors, and increasing oversight of costs that can ultimately be paid by policyholders.

Consumers have a right to know. And California is giving them more power to see how the system works.
