The first day of summer - my mornings are about to look a lot different. The boys won’t be in the car every day. Business calls can happen during my commute. But this morning, Marshall County has provided a nice bridge from school to summer. My “big’un” is with me for a special visit.

My oldest son got to call out the boats this morning for a bass tournament in our hometown. It was one of those acts of kindness that a man, who met him at last year’s event, extended to him this morning. There are tiny little things we do as adults that mean the world to kids. This was one of them - a fun experience for my son and a memory for me as a mama.

If you’re up for fishing and raising money for kids to attend college, please mark your calendar to visit us in Guntersville next year. I’m betting it’s the first Friday of May. You can fish a tremendous lake or enjoy breakfast with us - the way those ag folks do!

Last night I had the great pleasure of seeing 14 charities receive checks for their respective causes. What started as an idea and bold question became an opportunity to promote and aide local and regional charities that serve children. We all have a holiday food favorite. You know the food that makes your mouth water and makes you show up to the craziness of gifts and family chaos. For many in Cullman, Sharon’s cheese straws are that very food. Today, I’m the lucky one. The food is here and still warm. The office is about to get chaotic, and the Christmas cheer is abounding.

The biggest Christmas party of the season happened in Cullman today. Commission on Aging served hundreds of seniors. The meal looked amazing and the crowd was lively. I’m grateful for the conversations had, the clients hugged, and the serving that was done. What a great event!
