I’m excited to share some fantastic news for our community. The Ottine Volunteer Fire Department in Gonzales has been awarded a $10,000 grant through the Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program, a partnership between State Farm and the National Volunteer Fire Council. This program provides 150 grants of $10,000 each nationwide to help volunteer fire departments secure essential equipment that enhances firefighter safety, effectiveness, and efficiency, and enables them to better serve their communities. Ongoing support from State Farm ensures these departments have the resources they need to protect their teams and the people they serve.
As a local agent, I am honored that State Farm is recognizing the dedicated volunteers who risk their lives to keep our community safe.

🌀 De Witt County Tropical Weather Update
Monday. July 20, 2026 10:00AM

The National Hurricane Center is continuing to monitor Tropical Depression Two in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. The system is expected to gradually strengthen and could become a tropical storm over the next day.

What this means for De Witt County:

It is too early to determine what impacts this will have, if any, in our area.

Current forecasts suggest the system may track farther north before turning west, which could keep the strongest impacts closer to the Upper Texas Coast. However, the forecast could still change over the coming days.

Now is the time to prepare:

Review your family's emergency plan.
Check your emergency supply kit.
Make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.
Stay informed by following updates from the National Hurricane Center and the National Weather Service.

The De Witt County Office of Emergency Management will continue monitoring the system closely and will provide updates if conditions change.
