Local farmers and cattle ranchers participated in “The Herd Health Threats You Can’t Afford to Ignore: Trichomoniasis & New World Screwworm”. The program was held at East Texas Livestock and was a joint effort among County Extension Offices of Anderson, Angelina, Cherokee, Houston, Polk, and Shelby, as well as Texas Animal Health Commission, Texas Farm Bureau Offices of Cherokee, Houston, Polk, and Shelby, and Texas Farm Credit.

The Latexo FFA chapter had seven students attend the district 9 engage leadership camp. Students learned about their personal brands, meeting other students, agricultural facts and info, and the free enterprise system. As well as how Farm Bureau is structured and what their mission is. The day ended with a tour of a saw mill in Lufkin West Frazer and they got to see where their lumber comes from and how it’s made.
