First day of the Looking forward to a good week. Acting up with old friends and making new friends and clients. Booth 5018 in the outfitter hall. I will also be doing multiple seminars on whitetail deer hunting through the show.

Was blessed once again to start my fall season of with a blast. Even though it didn’t look as if it would be. I flew out to Montana and met up with good friend Brian Smith for an antelope hunt. Brian’s flights were delayed and then delayed again and finally canceled. After driving to another airport Brian finally made it to Montana and we were off to where we were going to hunt. With limited sleep we were up and at the for our first day. We saw a ton of goats but everything was super skittish. We were able to slip up on a buck chasing a doe and ended up under 50yrds but he wasn’t what we were looking for. Still it was an awesome experience. Days one came to a close with us putting a long stalk on a goat and me missing him clean. First goat I’ve missed is some time. Day two started out the same. Lots of goats but super skittish. Around noon we stopped to get a drink from the cooler and a snack. While we were game planning this buck came straight at us and closed within 200yrds. I already had the CVA Cascade ready and once he gave me a shot I squeezed the trigger and boom he didn’t take a step. I would love to say we saw this buck way off and put a great game plan and stalk on him but sometimes it pays to simply be in the right spot at the right time and let God bless you. So I will take luck and Gods blessing any day over my limited skills on a goat like this. Later that day Brian killed his biggest goat and just like that tagged out in a couple hours. Can’t wait to do it again next year. I love to hunt but nothing beats sharing these hunts with good friends and watching each other succeed.
