We are excited to promote Kimberly Kenning Banham to Partner. Kim has been with us for over 5 years and during that time has proved to be an integral part to our overall success. Kim has sourced and evaluated hundreds of deals, led 17 investments (11 of which have female or minority founders) and has stepped into several other internal facing roles.

This promotion coincides nicely with Women’s History Month. As many people know, there are few industries as lopsided as Venture Capital with only 5% of VCs having a female partner. We not only strive to remove bias from our investment process but also want to have a unique and diverse group internally.

Managing Partner Kyle Schlotman said, “Having Kim in the room as a decision maker brings a new and important perspective to the leadership team. We are thrilled to see what type of impact Kim can make in her new role as Partner”

Grit. Outgoing. Confidence. Purposeful. Approximate. Proactive. Systematic. Rebellious. Ethical. Leadership. These are the 10 most common traits of successful early-stage founders, regardless of the role they are in.

At Connetic Ventures, we definitely write checks but we also obsess over data on what makes startups successful. An interesting bi-product of our data-driven process is we've built the world's largest behavioral database on early-stage founders. From our analysis, founders and their teams are the most important factor when determining startup success.

In this article, we've pulled back the curtain to reveal 10 traits that are most prevalent in successful early-stage founders. These aren't necessary to be successful but give founders an edge.

3 years ago, we started our data-driven mission of becoming the first Venture Capital Firm in America to use data from sourcing all the way through to investment decisions. As we initially built out our technology, we started with what we thought was the most important component of startup evaluatio

Black business owners account for 10 percent of the U.S. businesses and about 30 percent of all minority owned businesses. Elise Tresley is cofounder and CEO of Realm Foods. She’s a multi-time founder across software and CPG industries.

Elise shares a lot of good nuggets about building companies and teams, but our favorite quote was when she dished on gender differences in the VC world:

She says, “I hope we can get to a point where I am just referred to as a founder instead of a female-founder."

Elise Tresley is Co-Founder and CEO of Realm Foods. Elise is a multi-time founder across software and CPG industries. On this episode Chris Hjelm and Elise Tresley discuss:- Her life before startups and what made her make the jump- What's required...
