ARIZONA CATTLE GROWERS MAY POST:

May's Special Edition of Herd That!
Call to Auction!
The Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) has filed a lawsuit that could impact all grazing allotments on the Tonto National Forest (TNF). These allotments include Gisela, Copper Creek, Dagger, Seventy-Six, Pinto Creek, Buzzard Roost, Soldier Camp, Crouch Mesa, Lyons Fork, Poison Springs, Hardt Creek, Chrysotile, Tonto Basin, Bar-X Complex (Bar-X, Colcord, Haigler Creek, Young) Hick’s-Pikes Peak, Red Lake Complex (Catholic Peak, Gentry Mountain, Red Lake), and Lower Verde Complex (Bull Springs, Deadman Mesa, Cedar Bench, Pole Hollow) but the case could expand to affect everyone. There is no immediate halt to grazing right now. However, the case is actively moving forward, and the long-term impact could be serious. CBD is asking to stop grazing until federal consultation is complete. This isn’t just legal theory, it directly affects ranching operations, livelihoods and the future of ranching in the region.
Gila County Cattle Growers' board voted to intervene in the lawsuit, so ranchers have a voice. They’ve hired legal counsel (Norm James). The total cost to start is $20,000. It will likely climb substantially higher as litigation ensues.
Time is critical. We are asking for donations of animals designated for sale as soon as possible, with all proceeds directed to the GCCGA litigation fund. These resources are urgently needed to fight the CBD lawsuit targeting numerous TNF permittees; an attack that, if left unchecked, could impact every one of us. Of course, cash donations are also very much appreciated!

Please request that the auction house mail the check to:
GCCGA PO Box 7,
Globe, AZ 85502

GCCGA will issue receipts for donations for tax purposes.
