Today, one of our loan fundings was unexpectedly delayed because of this new wire-transfer update from the Fed.
Here's what you need to know.
Wire Transfers Are Getting Smarter & Safer!
Starting July 14, 2025, all U.S. banks—including yours—are moving to a modern global format called ISO 20022 for wire transfers. Why it matters? Here’s the lowdown:
What’s changing:
Wire transfers will now require full physical addresses for both beneficiary and intermediary banks. If that info is missing, wires might get rejected by the Fed.
What stays the same:
Your online banking interface will look familiar—but you’ll need to update wire templates to include those new address fields
What you should do now:
1. Review & update saved templates—add full street addresses (don’t forget city, state, ZIP).
2. Double-check wire details for accuracy before July 14.
Why this matters to you:
ISO 20022 offers faster processing, fewer errors, and stronger fraud protection, all aligned with international standards.
Quick checklist before July 14, 2025:
* Update wire templates with full address info
* Reach out to vendors/payees for complete details
* Save or print existing templates—you’ll need to re-enter them
Need help? Your bank’s support line or local branch can make the transition smoother.
Stay ahead of the curve—your future self (and your finances) will thank you!
