When processing a file, always check upfront to see if your client has any outstanding child support, spousal support, or IRS liens against them.
The Delay Factor: Obtaining official payoff demands or mature installment figures from the county for child/spousal support can take up to 15 days.
No Rush Requests: Counties and government agencies will not expedite or rush these requests under any circumstances.
Pro Tip: Disclose these liens and order the demands immediately during the opening of escrow to prevent major delays at closing!
