🌱📚 Kids Corner is continuing! 📚🌱

We’ve had so much fun with Kids Corner throughout the summer, and Wayne County Farm Bureau is excited to continue this program throughout the school year in partnership with the Corydon Library! 💙

Our upcoming lessons are filled with hands-on activities that help kids learn about agriculture in fun and engaging ways:

🍕 August 28 – Pizza Process
Learn where the ingredients in our favorite pizza come from!

🏈 September 11 – Football Charm
Discover the important role agriculture plays in the world of sports.

🎃 September 25 – Pumpkin Chain
Explore the life cycle of a pumpkin through sequencing and model building.

We love getting to bring agriculture into the community and create fun learning opportunities for local kids. We can’t wait to see everyone at the Corydon Library for another great year of Kids Corner! 🌽🐷🎃

🐑🤠 Wayne County Farm Bureau Annual Mutton Bustin’ Competition 🤠🐑

Get ready for one of the most exciting events at the Wayne County Fair!

Join us on Saturday, August 1 for our annual Mutton Bustin’ Competition, where young cowboys and cowgirls will hold on tight and see how long they can ride!

Event Details

📍 Wayne County Fair – Main Arena
🕔 Registration: 5:00 PM
🐑 Competition Begins: 6:00 PM

Who Can Ride?

⭐ Kids 7 years old and younger
⭐ Riders must weigh 60 pounds or less

Registration

💲 $10 per rider
👕 Registration includes an event T-shirt!

Awards

🏆 Longest Ride – Belt Buckle awarded to the top Cowboy and Cowgirl
🏆 Toughest Rider – Metal Cutout awarded to the top Cowboy and Cowgirl

Whether you’re cheering from the stands or watching your little cowboy or cowgirl take on the sheep, this is always one of the highlights of the fair!

Bring the whole family for an evening of laughs, excitement, and unforgettable memories. We can’t wait to see you at the Wayne County Fair!

🌱🪨 Learning about soil has never been so much fun!

Today we explored the different layers of soil and why each one plays an important role in growing the crops we depend on every day. To make learning even more hands-on, everyone created their own “soil cups” by layering different cereals and cookies to represent the soil profile—from bedrock all the way to topsoil! It was a fun (and delicious!) way to see how soil is made up of different layers.

We also enjoyed a story, made our own soil layer craft, and had great conversations about why healthy soil is one of agriculture’s most valuable resources.
