It is also part of the InterCommunity Health Network Coordinated Care Organization providing insurance to Oregon Health Plan members in Benton, Lincoln, Linn and parts of Marion and Polk Counties. Held at the Linn County Fairgrounds, this incredible event provided vital resources to veterans and their families. Our Samaritan team including Evergreen Hospice, Chaplain Services, Mobile Medical, Employee Resource Groups, Patient and Family Advisory Council members and Service Opportunity Care Coordinators came together to support our Veterans with breakfast and lunch service, blood pressure checks, surplus item distribution and more. 🩺🍱🎒

🎉 Congratulations to Mary Canton, August’s Rising Star Employee of the Month at Samaritan Health Plans! 🎉 When she’s not reviewing regulatory deliverables or prepping for audits, Mary tends to her buzzing backyard hobby—beekeeping! A beekeeper since 2014, she brings the same curiosity and dedication to her work that she brings to her hives. “It’s hard work, but it pulls you in,” she said. “It smells good, like beeswax and honey. It’s really fun.”
Mary’s nearly 20-year journey at Samaritan has spanned six departments, and she now serves as a Quality program manager supporting Clinical Services. Her nominator praised her calm leadership, saying, “Mary continually reminds me that ‘it will be okay.’ She truly provides a guiding light when work seems extra hard and endless.” From organizing complex workflows to ensuring top-tier audit readiness, Mary’s dedication and positivity shine through in everything she does. 🐝💙

Join us Thursday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Linn County Fair & Expo Center in Albany for a powerful day of support and connection. Samaritan’s Veterans Outreach team will be onsite, as well as the SamCare Mobile Medicine unit, which will provide flu shots and basic medical care.
More than 25 organizations will be present, offering services from housing and employment assistance to mental health care and college recruitment. . 💙

With 12+ years at Samaritan, she manages key submissions and leads two major committees. “We all step in to help where we can,” she said.
