Construction starts this month on Third Street Commons in Corvallis, a 47-unity affordable housing community with on-site medical care for those experiencing chronic homelessness. Led by Corvallis Housing First, this project will more than double the organization’s capacity to provide permanent, stable housing for our most vulnerable neighbors.

Alicia Bublitz, program manager for IHN-CCO, said access to affordable housing is a key part of the Regional Community Health Improvement Plan for Benton, Linn and Lincoln counties, and praised Corvallis Housing First as “an invaluable part of our work to develop community-led solutions.”

Affordable housing is more than a roof overhead. It’s health care, stability, dignity and opportunity. IHN-CCO is proud to support this effort and partner in building community-led, culturally responsive solutions that strengthen whole-person care.

For people with both Medicare and Medicaid, choosing the right health plan can feel overwhelming. The best option depends on individual health needs, providers, and how care is coordinated.

One option available locally is a Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP). Samaritan Health Services offers a Medicare Advantage HMO D-SNP designed to support people who live and receive care in our communities.

A D-SNP may be a good fit for people who:

✔️ Want help coordinating care and benefits
✔️ Use doctors or hospitals in the plan’s network
✔️ Prefer one plan to manage Medicare and Medicaid together
✔️ Need extra support for ongoing or complex health needs

“We encourage people to think about what matters most to them — keeping their doctors, getting help coordinating care, or having flexibility as needs change,” said Bruce Butler, CEO of Samaritan Health Plans and IHN-CCO.

For years, Oregon’s System of Care has brought community partners together to better serve youth and families. Last year, IHN-CCO took an important step forward by launching a Youth Advisory Council, ensuring young people have a seat at the table.

Since April, the council has met virtually each month, with participants receiving $50 Visa gift cards for their time. Youth who share their experiences through one-on-one conversations outside of meetings are also compensated $25, helping extend the platform to even more voices.

“We can elevate those experiences to help improve the system going forward,” said Nate Lattanzio, Youth Advisory Council coordinator for Youth Era, a peer-led youth empowerment organization.
