A Quick Check-In for Our Clients ⛈️

​The recent thunderstorms have brought some incredibly intense winds our way! We hope you, your families, and your homes stayed safe through the worst of it.

​Once the weather clears, high winds can leave behind hidden damage that is easy to miss. To help you protect your property and ensure peace of mind, here is a quick 4-step checklist to guide you through the aftermath:

1. DO A SAFE VISUAL INSPECTION (Safety First)

Walk around your property only when it is entirely safe to do so. Look up and down for loose or missing roof shingles, damaged siding, leaning fences, and cracked tree limbs that could threaten your roof.

​2. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING IMMEDIATELY (Take Photos)

If you spot any damage, take clear photos and videos from multiple angles right away. Having a clear visual record is the most important step if you ever need to file a claim.

​3. MITIGATE FURTHER DAMAGE (Temporary Fixes)

If a window is broken or a piece of siding is missing, take temporary steps to cover it (like using a tarp or plywood) to prevent rain from getting inside. Keep receipts for any materials you buy!

​4. REVIEW YOUR COVERAGES (Policy Check)

Take a few minutes to pull up your current policy. Pay close attention to your deductibles (especially specific windstorm deductibles) and your dwelling coverage limits so you know exactly how your protection is structured.

Buying a home or upgrading your roof is a massive investment, but many homeowners forget one crucial step that can make or break their insurance coverage: Roof Certification.

​Whether you’re finally closing on your dream home or you’re looking up at your current roof and thinking it’s time for a repair (or a total replacement), there is one thing we always tell our clients: Don't forget the certification! 📜✅

​We know the process can feel a bit stressful, but it is well worth it in the long run. Especially here in Nueces County, this step is non-negotiable! 🌊

​⚠️ TWIA specifically requires a Windstorm Certificate of Compliance (WPI-8). If you don't have this certificate to prove your roof meets coastal building codes, they will NOT offer you windstorm coverage.

​So, before you sign any contracts or hand over a deposit, always remember to ask this one key question:
​👉 “Will a WPI-8 be provided?” 👈

✔️ Stay alert for falling debris and downed power lines
