Perhaps the thought of losing that low rate you refinanced or purchased into is terrifying. So many of us continue to pay astronomical interest rates on our credit cards in order to hold onto that low interest rate. Think about it.....if you were to take the average interest you are paying between credit cards, car notes, mortgage; whatever debts you are servicing right now, what is your average interest rate? For most, it's much higher than where current interest rates are today. The average time it takes to payoff large amounts of credit card debt alone is decades. For many, hanging onto that lower interest rate is actually costing them more.
