As we prepare for the bad weather that is to come, we have seen tons of great advice on ways to prepare yourself and your home for what's to come. We would like to add a few tips that you might have missed.

1- Locate and review your most recent insurance papers. Look for your deductible amounts and coverages. If you can't find them or aren't sure, call your agent.

2-Have your policy numbers, agent's office number, and their claims number written down or saved for fast access.

3- As your checking the batteries in your flashlights check the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide doctors. Especially if you have gas heat or plan on using a gas-powered heater or generator in the event of a loss of power.

If you do lose power, walk through your home and unplug and or turn off all appliances/electronics in anticipation of power being restored. Many fire starts from stoves being left on after the power is restored.

4- Have a list with names and numbers of towing services, plumbers, contractors, and tree removal services on hand that you can pull from. They will be busy so having multiple people you can choose from will be very handy.

A Celebration of Life for Marcia Rhodes will be held on Sunday, December 14th at 2:00 p.m. at Gaines Chapel Global Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Marcia’s honor to her church, Gaines Chapel.

We sincerely thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers for her family and friends during this time.
