The IRS is issuing special payments of up to $1,400 to approximately 1 million taxpayers who missed claiming the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns.

Eligibility: Taxpayers who filed a 2021 return but either left the Recovery Rebate Credit field blank or entered $0, despite being eligible.

Payment Details: Amounts vary, with a maximum of $1,400 per individual. Payments will be automatically deposited into bank accounts or sent via paper check by late January 2025.

No Action Needed: Eligible individuals will receive these payments without needing to file an amended return. The IRS will send separate letters notifying recipients of the payment.

Missed Filing? There's still time. Taxpayers who haven't filed their 2021 return can do so by April 15, 2025, to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit.

This initiative aims to ensure that all eligible taxpayers receive the stimulus funds they were entitled to during the pandemic.
