Winners compare their achievements with their goals; losers compare their achievements with other people. — Nido Qubein
Homeownership can mess with your head sometimes.
You see someone you went to high school with buying a beautiful house.
Someone younger than you just bought their second home.
Your friend got a house with a huge yard, a three-car garage and a kitchen that looks like it belongs in a magazine.
And suddenly you start thinking…
“I’m behind.”
But behind who?
Their life isn't your life.
Their income isn't your income.
Their goals aren't your goals.
Maybe your goal isn't a $600,000 house.
Maybe it's simply having a place that’s yours.
A place where your kids have their own rooms.
A place where you can finally stop worrying about the landlord.
A place where you can paint the walls whatever color you want.
A place where you can sit on the front porch someday and think…
“I did it.”
Don't measure your progress by somebody else's house.
Measure it by how far you've come from where you started—and how close you are to where you want to be.
Your dream doesn't have to impress anybody else.
It just has to mean something to you.
