October’s day of community service took us to Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia

Our job was the first line of defense for new clothes coming in. We sorted by type and by gender, and we set aside anything that didn’t meet their standard: Quality = Dignity. If a child wouldn’t be proud to wear it, it doesn’t go out the door.

Dylan Collie of KW Empower joined us. A friend of the shop and an absolute beast, growing year over year, month over month. He keeps redefining himself. Always willing to learn. Always wanting to grow.

And a last-second slot opened up this week, so we put a call out to our partners at Coldwell Banker Old City. Huge shout-out to AJ Simms, who raised a hand and showed up. We had never worked together before. Glad we got the chance, and in a way that actually mattered. It takes something to walk into a room of people you don’t know and still give the day to the community.

Fall is here — and so are a few seasonal surprises you definitely don’t want.
A little prep now can help prevent some of the most common (and costly) home insurance claims as temperatures start to drop.

A few things to add to your fall checklist:

❄️ Protect your pipes — Insulate pipes in colder areas like basements, garages and crawl spaces, and disconnect outdoor hoses before freezing temperatures arrive.

🍁 Clean those gutters — Leaves and debris can cause water to back up, potentially leading to roof leaks and water damage.

🔥 Have your heating system checked — A professional inspection can help catch problems before you're relying on it all winter.

🌳 Trim problem branches — Dead or damaged limbs can become a much bigger problem during fall and winter storms.

🚰 Know where your water shutoff is — If a pipe does burst, shutting off the water quickly can make a huge difference in the amount of damage.

🔋 Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors — Test them and replace batteries as needed before heating season gets into full swing.

A little fall maintenance can go a long way toward keeping your home — and your insurance policy — out of action this season.

From popcorn and princesses to monsters, movie villains, and a few insurance-inspired disasters, our team definitely understood the assignment.

Congrats to our winners and a huge shoutout to everyone who participated! 👏 We’re already wondering how we’re going to top these next year.

New roof, who dis? 😎

We recently gave the office roof a little makeover… and, well, the roof had some secrets.

🏚️ Started ripping things up and discovered a few “surprise” problems underneath.
👀 What looked like one project quickly turned into a few more conversations.
🔨 Contractor jumped onto a nail — because apparently roofs like to fight back.

It’s a good reminder that with roofs — and homeowners insurance — what you can see isn’t always the whole story.

Thankfully, we know a thing or two about looking a little closer. 😉

💛🍋 That’s a wrap on the Million Mile! 🍋💛

Throughout September, the Jefferson Avenue Insurance team walked and ran a total of 260 miles in support of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and the fight against childhood cancer!
