I have been working for Fayette County Title for the past 30 years and have seen 5 different Recorders in Office. Yes, they did their job, but none of them have gone above and beyond to the levels that Lisa Mays Witt has.
When she took office, she made it clear that her intentions were to make the Recorder's Office more "user friendly". She cared enough to have all of the everyday searchers write down changes that they would like to see made, and she immediately made those changes. She found ways to save money that was being spent needlessly in the past, by making more public terminals available, so that we were not standing around waiting our turn for the only one that worked. She added chairs, so that those with any physical disabilities could have a place to rest while doing their search work. And she has always make it a point to get up and help when somebody searching has a problem or question.
Her team has made a visible effort to actually use the equipment, that was purchased in the past, to help digitize the records. They have put all of the plats online so that they are easily accessible. They have scanned in all of the military books. They have been scanning in Miscellaneous Documents, which has been a tremendous help to searchers. And they got all of Fayette County Deeds scanned in, which is the most remarkable task, because this means that YOUR documents do not run the risk of being damaged or lost in the years to come! Thanks to the hard work that has been happening EVERY DAY since Lisa took office, the public will have an easier time searching through their documents online!
I will be voting for LISA MAYS WITT, because I want a Recorder who is friendly, helpful, available to the public, and puts the needs of the Fayette County's people, first!
