Next stop on the CFM Roadtrip: the American Saddlebred Horse Museum.
Back in 1867, C.T. Quisenberry rolled into town from Kentucky with the Missouri Clay horse in tow, and Mexico's been known as the "Saddle Horse Capital of the World" ever since. The museum came along in 1970, and it's recognized as the oldest of its kind in the country, now part of a historical society complex that also includes Graceland, an old country school, and a country church.
Step inside and you'll meet Rex McDonald, a stallion who only lost three times in his entire career, and Tom Bass, who was born enslaved in Boone County and went on to become one of the most respected horse trainers the country has ever seen.
Ben's still out there putting miles on the odometer, stopping in to see the CFM agents who show up for their neighbors in towns just like this one. Small town, big horse history. Feels about right.
