Did you know Modern Woodmen helped establish Mother's Day?

In 1907, a Philadelphia teacher brought the idea of an annual day to recognize moms to Modern Woodmen. She wanted to honor her mom, 1 year after her death. Modern Woodmen loved the idea and encouraged members to celebrate Mother's Day on May 10, 1908.

Congress officially declared Mother's Day a holiday in 1913.
