Unfortunately, paying taxes is a part of life and property taxes are no exception. Seasoned homeowners know that this tax bill is all part of the homeownership experience however it is easy for new buyers to overlook this and the impact they will have on their overall housing expense.

In Ocean County, NJ the median home value is $294,100 and taxes on that same home are $4,325. Unfortunately, analyzing the median can have limited value if you take for example the neighboring towns of Jackson where the avg. tax bill for 2019 is $7,466 and their next door neighbor Manchester whose average was $4,093. That difference equates to a housing payment that is $281 a month less in Manchester that in Jackson for identically valued homes.
