At last week's TEDD Board of Directors meeting, a winner was selected to receive the latest offering from quilting wizards Judy Lockner and Valerie Lamont, for the Veterans Quilt Program. For the first time ever, the lucky winner was right in the audience! Kettle Falls Mayor Jesse Garrett, USN Retired, left the meeting with a beautiful handcrafted quilt.

SMALL BUSINESS $ FUNDING OPPORTUNITY ALERT$!!! This roll-up thanks to the Puget Sound Business Journal:

Visa Foundation Offers $2M: The Visa Foundation is committing $2M to support nonprofit organizations that provide direct services to small and medium-sized businesses. Grants will be between $100K-$250K. Eligible orgs. need to be US-based 501(c) orgs. with an annual operating budget between $1M-10M and must provide direct services. Applications will be accepted through 12 pm PT on Oct. 21

Shophand $5K Offer: Small business AI agent platform Shophand is offering $2.5K in cash and $2.5K in Shophand technical support and services for its AI agents to a selected company. The twice-a-year grant is open to small businesses with fewer than 50 employees and less than $5M in revenue and must also follow Shophand on social media. Applications are due Nov. 30.

Breva Thrive Grant Program: The Thrive Grant program operated by small business funding and coaching platform Breva is offered on a rolling basis. The winner receives a $5K grant. The coming application cycle closes Oct. 31. Applicants must have demonstrated an impact on the surrounding community, such as new jobs, new products or making services more accessible. Applicants are strongly preferred to have been in operation more than a year and must be generating revenue prior to the grant.

Verison’s Small Business Digital Ready Program: Business owners who sign up for the free Verizon Small Business Digital Ready online community will be eligible to apply for grants through the year. The company provides up to $1M in grant funding a year.

Amber Grant’s Monthly and Annual Awards: The Amber Grant program was created in 1998 to empower women business owners. Every month, WomensNet awards three $10K grants to women-owned businesses. A $50K grant is given to one of the monthly award winners at the end of the year. A business must be at least 50% woman-owned and must operate in the US or Canada to be eligible. The deadline to apply is the last day of the month.

The National Science Foundation: The National Science Foundation’s America’s Seed Fund provides millions in grant funding to small businesses and startups with big ideas. The grant program gives out roughly $200M per year to eligible businesses.

The National Association for the Self-Employed: The National Association for the Self-Employed has a $4K growth grant that it offers on a rolling basis. Only members are eligible.

At today's monthly Tri County Economic Development District's Board of Directors meeting, 's fearless leader of 9 years, Jeff Koffel, was honored for his service to Northeast Washington before he retires at the end of the month. Steve Bruchman, Field Representative for Congressman Michael Baumgartner, presented Jeff with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition and letter from the Congressman, along with a Congressional Challenge Coin, to recognize not only Jeff's work for TEDD and Northeast Washington, but also his decades of service in the U.S. Marine Corps. Then it was Pend Oreille County Commissioner Robert Rosencrantz's turn to thank Jeff on behalf of the Board and TEDD staff, and presented him with a plaque outlining his years of service to TEDD.

We here at TEDD World Headquarters will miss Jeff's patient leadership, guidance and mentorship and the positive energy he brought to the office everyday. But we know he'll have an AWESOME retirement! Congratulations, Jeff! 🎉

These are relaxed, casual workshops, no formality necessary! Just an inviting space where folks can ask questions, throw around ideas, and learn new strategies for how to grow your business!
