In agent school, one of our instructors always said, are you prepared for your one second moment? Mind you, this instructor had a heart attack in his 30's. This made him uninsurable from a life insurance standpoint.

I know it sounds insane but I think we all know that life can change in the blink of an eye. We all have a story of something unexpected happening.

So my question to you, are you prepared for your one second moment? Is your family prepared for that moment? What about the business you built from the ground up?

Surely by now you have seen the incoming weather.

I wanted to share some tips to keep you safe while hopefully you are hibernating at home!

If you haven't met with your insurance agent in the last year, PLEASE schedule that. We all saw the damages from last spring.

Cover your face to protect your skin from extreme cold.

Limit exposure outdoors. Take frequent breaks to warm up.

If you get out, try to keep blankets, hats, gloves and coats in your vehicle(s).

Do not allow pets outside for an extended period of time or it might look like the picture below!

Above all, stay safe. Stay cozy. And if you want to get crazy, build a snowman with your family or make some snow ice cream!

I know it’s never anything anyone wants to discuss, including myself. It hurts to even consider losing a loved one, let alone a precious child.

If you lock in their insurability now, regardless of any diagnosis in the future, your child would be covered. Additionally, the policies for minors are typically reasonable in cost! The best part is the policy earns cash value over time. You can sign the policy over to your child if/when you are ready and they can do whatever they want with it!

I have said often that my dream job would be a business consultant. To help someone else succeed in getting their business off the ground just sounds like so much fun to me.

Even before Syrup’s Sweets, I had such a passion for small businesses. Every business was once “just a start up”. It was the grit, determination, and drive that built that business to be what is.

This year, I want to focus heavily on the commercial side at Farm Bureau. I would love to see if I cannot only make sure your business is protected, but also maybe save you some money in the process.
