100-years ago today, the oldest Thanksgiving Day parade in the country took place in Philadelphia. Like other parades of its type, it features balloons, floats, high school marching bands, and celebrities. It continued to take place each year despite World War II and other events. In 2020, the city of Philadelphia canceled all public gatherings, including the Thanksgiving Day Parade, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the first cancellation in the parade's history.
