Salute to Lowndes County's Finest 9/11 Annual Event & First Responder Fund To recognize and thank outstanding First Responders in Lowndes County.

Salute to Lowndes County's Finest takes place once a year to say thank you to all First Responders. The First Responders Recovery and Relief Fund has also been established to help local first responders and their families year round. The fund, financed solely by donations, provides an extra financial cushion in time of need. Salute to Lowndes County's Finest was established after local businessman Mark Smith was a guest of NYPD at the World Trade Center site (Ground Zero) shortly after 9/11 and decided to create an event to honor local heroes. After several years, the benefit fund was established as another way to give back locally and has distributed thousands of dollars thus far in helping our local heroes and their families in a time of need.
