“Medicare Planning Is More Than Picking a Plan”

Many people think Medicare planning simply means choosing an insurance plan, but there is much more involved than most realize.

Proper Medicare planning may include reviewing:
• Current doctors and specialists
• Prescriptions
• Expected surgeries or procedures
• Travel needs
• Budget considerations
• Future healthcare goals
• Dental and vision needs

Every client’s situation is unique, which is why personalized guidance matters.

At Crawford Benefits, we believe clients deserve to understand their options and feel comfortable asking questions throughout the process.

Our goal is not simply to enroll someone in a plan, but to help educate and support them so they can feel confident in the decisions they make for their healthcare coverage.

Part 2: Estate Planning Basics Everyone Should Have

Estate planning starts with a few important documents that protect both you and your loved ones:

📄 Last Will & Testament
💼 Durable Power of Attorney
🏥 Healthcare Power of Attorney / Medical Directive
📁 Trusts (when appropriate)

These documents help ensure your finances, healthcare decisions, and assets are handled according to YOUR wishes, not left up to the courts.

The hardest part is often just getting started.

Don’t leave your loved ones guessing about what you would have wanted. Preparation is one of the greatest gifts you can give your family.

“I was prescribed a new medication, and now my Medicare drug plan doesn’t cover it. What do I do?”

This is more common than many people realize.

Prescription Drug Plans have formularies, which means not every medication is covered the same way on every plan. Sometimes a newly prescribed medication may:
• Not be covered at all
• Require prior authorization
• Be placed on a higher tier
• Have very high copays
• Require step therapy

If this happens, do not panic, you may still have options.

Depending on the situation, possible next steps could include:
• Checking if there is a covered alternative
• Requesting a formulary exception
• Reviewing lower-cost pharmacy options
• Looking into manufacturer assistance programs
• Discussing alternative medications with your doctor

This is also why reviewing Medicare drug coverage during the Annual Enrollment Period each year is so important. Prescription needs can change unexpectedly throughout the year, and a plan that worked previously may not fit your current medication needs.

At Crawford Benefits, we help clients better understand their prescription coverage and review available options when situations like this arise.

Life insurance isn’t really about you, it’s about the people you love most ❤️

It’s about making sure your kids are taken care of, your family isn’t left with financial stress, and that everything you’ve worked for continues to support them no matter what.

June is a great time to ask yourself:
✔️ If something happened to me, would my family be okay financially?
✔️ Do I have enough coverage in place?
✔️ When is the last time I reviewed my policy?

Life changes fast, marriages, babies, new homes, and your coverage should keep up.

If you’ve been thinking about it (or avoiding it), We’re here to help you figure out what makes sense for your family. 🤍

Part 1: The Conversation Nobody Wants to Have…But Everyone Needs

Estate planning isn’t just for the wealthy or elderly. It’s for anyone who wants to protect the people they love and ensure their wishes are honored.

When families wait too long to plan, the result can be confusion, costly court proceedings, family disagreements, and unnecessary stress during an already emotional time.

A simple plan today can create peace of mind tomorrow.

Ask yourself:
✔️ Do you have a will?
✔️ Have you named someone to make medical or financial decisions if needed?
✔️ Does your family know your wishes?

Because when it’s too late, it’s too late.
