This year, thousands of Ohio teens will start the journey to the driver’s seat—and in our house, that includes our son Dominic, who just passed his knowledge test and earned his permit.

I’m sharing a few throwback photos (bikes, skates, the little “luxury car” phase) because… how did we get from that to real keys?

As excited as we are, we’re also keeping safety front and center. New drivers have the highest crash risk early on, especially with distractions, extra passengers, and night driving.

From the insurance side, I’ve been reminding other parents (and myself!) to look at a few things that can really help:

Good Student Discount (if they qualify)
DriveMyWay (driving-habits program with an introductory discount)
MilesMyWay (can be a great fit if a vehicle is driven less—like limited teen driving at first)
