Each year on Memorial Day, we honor the men and women who gave their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. On this day, Americans pause to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Traditionally, the American flag is raised briskly to the top of the staff, then lowered to half-staff until noon. This symbolizes remembrance of the service members who have died in service. At noon, the flag is raised to full staff for the remainder of the day. This act represents the nation's resilience and commitment to honor their sacrifice. It also serves as a reminder to continue striving for liberty and justice for all.

On April 23rd, Farm Bureau held its annual Earth Day event. Thank you to Frontier Farm Credit, COOP, and Dekalb for your support! Schools in attendance this year were Baxter, Columbus, and Southeast. We had so many wonderful exhibitors who came and donated their time to help teach the kids and we could not do this without them.

Columbus Farmers Cooperative graciously allowed the public to watch and ask questions about partial grain entrapment in a bin during a grain bin education exercise this past Saturday. Their employees did the training with their new equipment called The Great Wall. Farmers, ranchers, Baxter fire, and the sheriff's departments were all represented. This was very informative and eye opening to all in attendance. Entrapment is an emergency that requires quick and effective response and education and preparation can support a positive outcome. Another grain bin safety training is tentatively scheduled for next March. Thank you to everyone who participated in this important activity.
