Wednesday Wisdom 💡

The longer an account remains unpaid, the harder it can become to collect.

One of the most important parts of managing accounts receivable is simply having a consistent process.

When past-due accounts continue to age, they don't just represent money owed — they can tie up cash flow, consume valuable staff time, and distract your team from serving today's customers.

Knowing when to stop chasing an account internally and get professional help can make a difference.

At Columbus Credit Services, we've been helping Nebraska businesses and healthcare providers manage past-due accounts since 1991.

Your staff has enough to do.
Let us help with the receivables.

MONDAY THOUGHT 💼

Strong businesses are built on relationships.

Customers. Employees. Vendors. Community partners.

And sometimes, maintaining those relationships means handling difficult situations professionally.

At Columbus Credit Services, we believe accounts receivable management can be both effective and respectful. For more than 30 years, Nebraska businesses and healthcare providers have trusted us to represent their organizations professionally.

Because how you handle an account matters — and so does the reputation you worked hard to build.

Fair. Respectful. Effective.

MONDAY BUSINESS MINUTE 💼

A sale isn’t complete until the invoice is paid.

Past-due accounts can quietly tie up cash flow, consume staff time, and keep businesses focused on yesterday instead of what comes next.

For more than 30 years, Columbus Credit Services has helped Nebraska businesses, healthcare providers, and organizations manage their accounts receivable and recover money that is already owed to them.

If receivables are becoming receivables too long, it may be time to have a conversation.

🇺🇸 FRIDAY | NEBRASKA FIRST

One thing I’ve always appreciated about Nebraska is that when our communities grow, it usually happens because people decide to invest in the place they call home.

It might be a business expanding, a new service coming to town, someone restoring an old building, or a group of people volunteering their time to make something better.

Those investments don't always make headlines, but over time they add up.

They create jobs. They create opportunities. And most importantly, they help make our communities better places for the next generation.

That's something I'm proud to support and something I hope we never take for granted.

Keep investing in Nebraska. Keep supporting local. And keep building something worth leaving behind.

Have a great weekend!

MONDAY BUSINESS TIP 💼

Past-due accounts don’t usually get easier with time.

The sooner a business has a consistent process for following up on unpaid accounts, the better chance it has of keeping cash flow moving — while still treating customers with professionalism and respect.

At Columbus Credit Services, we’ve been helping Nebraska businesses manage receivables and recover past-due accounts since 1991.

You focus on running your business.
Let us help with the follow-up.

💡 WEDNESDAY WISDOM

One thing I've learned in this business is that the longer an account sits unpaid, the harder it usually becomes to collect.

I understand why businesses wait. Nobody wants to give up on a customer, and sometimes you genuinely believe the payment is coming.

But there comes a point where waiting isn't helping either side.

If you're constantly making calls, sending statements, hearing "I'll get that taken care of next week," and nothing changes, it may be time to try a different approach.

That doesn't mean treating people poorly or immediately assuming they won't pay. In fact, I believe you can be persistent and still treat people with respect.

It just means recognizing when your time could be better spent running your business instead of chasing an old invoice.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't collecting the account.

It's knowing when it's time to stop chasing it yourself.

Just something I've learned along the way.

Have a great Wednesday!

Sometimes growth isn't about doing more. It's about finding a better way to do what you're already doing.

I've been thinking about that quite a bit lately.

In business, it's easy to get comfortable doing things the way they've always been done. But as technology changes and our customers' expectations change, we have to be willing to change with them.

That doesn't mean chasing every new idea or spending money just because something is new. I've never believed in that.

For me, the question is pretty simple:

Does it make us better?

Does it save time?
Does it improve service?
Does it help our employees do their jobs better?
And ultimately, does it make good business sense?

If the answer is yes, it's probably worth taking a look at.

We're making some changes at Columbus Credit Services right now that I'm excited about. Some will work exactly like we hope. Others may need adjusting along the way. That's business.

You don't have to have everything figured out before you move forward.

Sometimes you just have to be willing to try a better way.

Have a great Monday!

Happy Friday!
One of the things I appreciate most about living and working in Nebraska is the people.
Every week I have the opportunity to meet business owners, volunteers, community leaders, healthcare professionals, educators, and so many others who quietly make our communities stronger. Most of them aren't looking for recognition—they're simply doing what they can to make a difference.
That's something worth celebrating.
At Columbus Credit Services, we're proud to work with businesses across Nebraska, but we're even more proud to be part of the communities they serve.
As we head into the weekend, I hope you'll take a few minutes to support a local business, attend a community event, or simply thank someone who's making a positive impact where you live.
Those small things are what keep Nebraska such a great place to call home.
Have a great weekend!

One thing I've learned over the years is that most payment problems don't happen overnight.

They usually start small.

Maybe an invoice gets set aside because things are busy. Then another one comes in. Before long, it's been 60 or 90 days, and now it's a much bigger issue than anyone expected.

That's why I always tell business owners the same thing:

The earlier you have a conversation, the more options you usually have.

Whether you're following up on an invoice yourself or working with someone else, communication is almost always better than waiting and hoping things work themselves out.

No one likes difficult conversations, but avoiding them rarely makes them easier.

I hope that's helpful to someone today.

Have a great Wednesday!
