A young trespasser rode a motorcycle onto a field after midnight, hit a chain stretched across a road, and was badly hurt. He sued the field owner under a legal theory called attractive nuisance, and he won. That claim is from years before I joined the firm, and the lesson has not changed: if you own the field, your liability does not clock out when practice ends. Neither should your coverage.

Volunteer immunity is a defense, not a force field. It gets raised after you have been served, by a defense attorney someone has to pay. And immunity statutes generally do not apply to allegations of gross negligence, which is exactly what plaintiff attorneys know to plead.
